What "free" actually means here

Two tiers, stated plainly. Without an account you get a few real image swaps a day at full resolution, marked with a diagonal "PREVIEW" watermark — enough to judge whether the result is any good before deciding anything. A free account removes the mark, carries the swap you already made across clean, and includes 100 credits; an image swap is 1 credit, so that is roughly a hundred more, and no card is asked for at any point.

What this does not do is cap the free tier at a thumbnail, or take a card before letting you download.

What free credits do not stretch to is video. Video face swap is billed at 2 credits per second, so the same 100 credits is about 50 seconds of footage. If video is what you came for, it is worth knowing that up front rather than discovering it three clips in.

There is no recurring free tier. When the 100 credits are gone, credit packs start at $4.99 for 200 and never expire.

Upload, face detection, face selection and the swap itself all work anonymously — you get a real, full-resolution result without an account, watermarked, a few times a day. The cap exists because each run costs real GPU time, not to force a decision before you have seen anything.

Anything you upload anonymously is deleted automatically within 24 hours if you never create an account. If you do create one, the swap you already made comes with you, without the watermark.

What affects the quality of the result

The single biggest factor is how closely the angle of the source face matches the face being replaced. A straight-on source dropped onto a straight-on target looks convincing almost every time; a straight-on source dropped onto a sharp profile is where results start to look pasted on, because there is simply no information about the side of that face in your source image.

Resolution matters second. Images are normalized to a maximum edge of 1920px, so a source face that only occupies 60px of the frame has very little detail to work with no matter how large the overall file is. A tight, well-lit face fills more pixels and swaps better.

Lighting direction matters third. The model matches skin tone and blends edges, but it cannot move a light source — a face lit from the left composited into a scene lit hard from the right will read as wrong even when the blend itself is clean.
